Bohinj – a Beautiful Valley and a Lake Embedded in the Mountains, Slovenia

Bohinj, Slovenia. Situated in the heart of the Julian Alps, Bohinj valley is the most beautiful natural gem around. Surrounded with mountains, found in the vicinity of the highest peak in Slovenia – Mount Triglav (2864 m; 9396 ft) – the valley is a popular all year round attraction. It also features waterfalls, gorges and unspoiled forests.

A true jewel of the valley is Lake Bohinj – the largest one in the country. In summer it attracts numerous visitors, who love to bathe, boat and do other water sports here. In winter the mountain resorts welcome adventurous skiers. Bohinj is surrounded with various towns and villages with friendly locals, hotels and restaurants, that provide all the required facilities.

How to get there?

Easy access by train and bus from Ljubljana or Nova Gorica. The international airport Brnik of Ljubljana is only 50 km away. Other airports nearby include one in Klagenfurt (Austria) which is 70 km away and another in Trieste (Italy) – 200 km away.
